In 1935, the Lovick Home became the Christian Science Reading Room and Library. The image shows a car parked in front of the Reading Room. A sign for the church includes the times and days that the church meets. H.J. Lovick owned the home, occupied by Moses Sultan and his family, before the house and lot were sold to the New Bern Library Association in 1912. When the library acquired the John Wright Stanly home in 1935, it sold the Lovick Home to the First Church of Christ, Scientist. The house remained the Christian Science Reading Room until it was moved in July 1984 to the 500 block of Johnson Street.
